Why Iron Gate Lodge
Iron Gate Lodge is located in Southeast Kansas, in the middle of the famous mined land wildlife area known as "the strip pits". These strip pits were dug in the 50's-60's with huge electric shovels. What was once thought of as wasteland has since grown up with oak and pecan trees, lots of thick underbrush, and most of the pits, with water. This area is known as one of the best hunting and fishing areas in the Midwest.
Our hunting and fishing lodge is not only located in the heart of the strip pits, but also located in the Neosho River bottom. This includes many acres of high protein soybeans, corn, and clover fields for our whitetail herd to thrive, producing an outstanding number of trophy bucks for you to hunt.

The strip pits are known to be the top producing fisheries in Kansas. Well managed, private owned pits (like ours) are home to an incredible number of fish such as Crappie, Largemouth Bass, and Channel Cat. The recently caught state record fish, a Channel Cat, was caught while fishing only two miles from Iron Gate Lodge in a state owned strip pit. |
